R.Power Awards Contract for 200 MWh Battery in Romania
Romania: R.Power has appointed a contractor for its 100 MW/200 MWh Studina battery energy storage system (BESS) in Olt County, Romania. The contract covers balance-of-plant works and the high-voltage grid connection for the standalone facility.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with grid connection expected in the third quarter of 2027.
Studina is R.Power’s second utility-scale battery project in Romania, following its nearby 127 MW/254 MWh Scornicești facility, which is nearing completion.
The projects will add storage capacity to Romania’s electricity system, supporting grid stability and flexibility as utilities manage growing distributed energy resources.
Across Central and Eastern Europe, R.Power has 900 MW/3 GWh of battery storage operating or under construction, alongside 700 MW/2.8 GWh of commercialised, ready-to-build projects.
The development expands R.Power’s regional storage portfolio, with transmission infrastructure planning remaining relevant to grid-connected projects.
