Nyquis Raises $6.3M to Advance Grid Monitoring Technology
Nyquis, a US-based grid-monitoring technology company, has raised $6.3 million in seed funding to develop sensors, expand fault-detection data and deploy its systems with additional utilities. The round was co-led by Gigascale Capital and South Park Commons.
Its Nyquis Node installs at existing substations and analyses high-resolution voltage and current measurements to identify electrical anomalies, including arcing, vegetation contact and deteriorating connections. The technology targets high-impedance faults that conventional protection equipment may not detect.
In its first deployment with Otero County Electric Cooperative in New Mexico, the system detected more than 50 fault events during a windstorm. Three of four flagged locations stopped producing corresponding signals after crews addressed them.
Continuous monitoring is also central to online transformer condition assessment, while integrated relay protection supports coordinated fault response.
“The goal is to find the problem while the lights are still on,” said Daniel J. Hunter, Nyquis co-founder and CEO.
